Human to inherit my human ranger from GW1.
Asura because they're uber-awesome. Charr for PvP because... does this really need an explanation? I may make a Sylvari too, but right now they don't interest me much. And the Norn are a little bland. I'll probably play with all the races at some point, but the three above will be my first choices for GW2. I would really like to see Centaurs and Tengu included as playable species, but oh well. Has there ever been a game that allowed players to play primarily as a Centaur? |

With the new history out, I must say I'm most excited about Sylvari. Call them an elf rip-off if you want, but the idea of playing an immortal(?) pod-creature sounds pretty cool to me.
The Charr are going to be the most interesting to see how they fit in: If you eat your allies, can you still be loved?

I've been on the side of the Charr since the day I first bought chapter 1 of Guild Wars. It just seemed to me then that I could understand their POV, and not much has changed that yet - so that's who I'd go for first.
But then hey, in WoW I play Horde side almost exclusively - but over there its a little more obvious that they're the real heroes.
